V456 Cyg: An eclipsing binary with tidally perturbed <i>g</i>-mode pulsations

چکیده
Context. Many well-known bright stars have been observed by the ongoing Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) space mission. For several of them, these new data reveal previously unobserved variability, such as tidally perturbed pulsations in close binary stars. Aims. Using newly detected gravity-mode (g-mode) V456 Cyg, we aim to determine global stellar properties this short-period eclipsing and evaluate interaction between tides. Methods. We model orbit physical component using TESS photometry published spectroscopy. then measure pulsation frequencies from residuals light curve fit iterative prewhitening, analyse them asteroseismic parameters. parameters a function orbital phase. Results. find that belong secondary Cyg star likely has uniform radial rotation profile, synchronous ($\nu_{\rm rot} = 1.113(14) \rm d^{-1}$) with orb} 1.122091(8) d^{-1}$). The g modes are amplified almost factor three hemisphere facing primary. present evidence is caused tidal perturbation pulsations, mode coupling being strongly affected. Conclusions. only second object for which high-order g-mode identified, after $\pi^5$ Ori. This opens up opportunities asteroseismology, it demonstrates another avenue tides can interact each other.

Period change and δ Scuti pulsations of eclipsing binary star RZ Cassiopiae
RZ Cas is an Algol-type partial eclipsing binary, the secondary component of which has filled its Roche lobe. Its visual magnitude is 6.18 and its period is 1.195 days. The most important characteristics of RZ Cas are period change (due to mass transfer) and anomalies in the primary minimum of its light curve (due to δ Scuti pulsations). In this paper, light curves of RZ Cas are obtained using ...

AA Dor (LB 3459) is an eclipsing, close, single-lined, post common-envelope binary (PCEB) consisting of an sdOB primary star and an unseen secondary with an extraordinary small mass – formally a brown dwarf. The brown dwarf may have been a former planet which survived a common envelope phase and has even gained mass. A recent determination of the components' masses from results of state-of-the-...
متن کاملAutomated analysis of eclipsing binary lightcurves. I. EBAS — a new Eclipsing Binary Automated Solver with EBOP
We present a new algorithm— Eclipsing Binary Automated Solver (EBAS), to analyse lightcurves of eclipsing binaries. The algorithm is designed to analyse large numbers of lightcurves, and is therefore based on the relatively fast EBOP code. To facilitate the search for the best solution, EBAS uses two parameter transformations. Instead of the radii of the two stellar components, EBAS uses the su...
متن کاملEclipsing Binary Pulsars
The first eclipsing binary pulsar, PSR B1957+20, was discovered in 1987. Since then, 13 other eclipsing low-mass binary pulsars have been found; 12 of these are in globular clusters. In this paper we list the known eclipsing binary pulsars and their properties, with special attention to the eclipsing systems in 47 Tuc. We find that there are two fundamentally different groups of eclipsing binar...
متن کاملThe spin axes orbital alignment of both stars within the eclipsing binary system V1143 Cyg using the Rossiter-McLaughlin effect
Context. The Rossiter–McLaughlin (RM) effect, a rotational effect in eclipsing systems, provides unique insight into the relative orientation of stellar spin axes and orbital axes of eclipsing binary systems. Aims. Our aim is to develop a robust method to analyze the RM effect in an eclipsing system with two nearly equally bright components. This gives access to the orientation of the stellar r...
